YOUR BOWYER

O.L. Adcock was born in 1955 in New Mexico. He began hunting early, his father starting him out on doves with a .410 shotgun and taking his first deer at age 10 with a rifle. O.L. started looking at archery to put more challenge into the chase. Taking two black bears with a rifle at age 15, he began shooting a 44 pound browning recurve. Opening day of bear season, at age 16, a big black bear went down with a well placed arrow (read lucky!) and a bowhunter was born.

O.L. joined the U.S. Navy in 1973 and pursued deer, elk, and bear all over the country. Carrier life made it difficult to stay proficient at shooting so a switch to compounds followed. But traditional sticks and strings were still in his blood. The switch back was bound to happen. Being of modest means, he always built his own equipment, if possible, and for hunting buddy's and friends. Getting a little older and having missed too many bow seasons, O.L. realized that running up and down the flight deck of an aircraft carrier at age 40 wasn't near as much fun as it was at 18 and eating sawdust and flinging sticks at bears was much safer! O.L. now resides in Roswell N.M., where the sawdust is flying and the bears are nervous!
